Arc/Resistance Welding Process

FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)
This process uses similar equipment as GMAW but in place of standard solid wire uses wire consisting of a steel electrode surrounding a powder fill material.
GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
Also known as metal inert gas or MIG welding.
GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)
Also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. This process uses a nonconsumable tungsten electrode, an inert gas and a separate filler material. This process is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Heliarc welding.

MIG
Metal Inert Gas welding, also referred to as Gas Metal Arc Welding.
Resistance
Resistance welding is a process where heat is generated by passing current through the resistance caused by the contact between two or more metal surfaces to be joined.
TIG
Tungsten Inert Gas welding. Also referred to as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
Under-The-Hood
Under-The -Hood Welders are a type of portable welding system that is mounted “Under the Hood” of a vehicle and is connected to the vehicle’s electrical system for power.
